UNO Faculty-Industry Engagement Progam

The Division of Professional, Adult and Continuing Education (PACE) is piloting a Summer Faculty-Industry Engagement Opportunity for UNO faculty. This is intended to be an immersive 2-4-week experience to develop one-on-one relationships with industry hosts and uncover future opportunities for collaboration between the organization and UNO. PACE and the Office of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement (ELCE) will facilitate the process of matching organizations with prospective faculty members, and, in collaboration with the organization, will steward project development, definition, and execution.

Grant-funded faculty stipends are available for the pilot year. Stipends are set at a flat-rate for all participating colleges. The grant has two requirements:

  1. Host organizations/projects have a technology context.
  2. Participating faculty deliver a PACE course proposal reviewed and validated by the organization, due upon completion of their engagement.

Examples of summer project proposals soliciting a match with faculty experts:

  • Software Programming Advisor for a small-to-mid-size regional Information Technology Service Provider
  • Urban Planning advisory on geospatial application for federal contractor
  • Augmented Reality expertise for new product development in energy industry application
  • Accounting SME to provide oversight on new implementation for state safety network hospital system.
Faculty may bring forward proposals for projects with organizations faculty may already have relationships with, if it fits with the requirements of the program.
